BRIEF STORY OF MY LIFE
I am Vincenzo Di Lella but everyone calls me Enzo. I am from San Nicandro Garganico, a little town in south of Italy (Gargano), which is just 10 minutes from the sea and the beautiful beaches of Torre Mileto. Here you can a photo took during a windy but sunny August afternoon.
I left my home town when I was just 19 years old, after finishing the highschool to study in Bologna University. Since then I have never come back, except for holidays and to visit family, as I travelled around Europe for study and for work to follow intresting, challenging, amazing opportunities.
WORKING EXPERIENCES
I consider my last year of University in Sweden as a working experience, even without taking into account the six months of Master’s thesis in Scania AB it has been a challenging, and rich of new experiences year that made me grow and learn considerably.
In Sweden, I had the opportunity to join the dual-degree programme organized between Bologna and Stockholm Universities. It has been an intresting and exciting opportunity because I could live for the first time outside Italy, in a multi-ethnical envirorment where I needed to step out my confort zone and learn new cultures and languages. It has been intresting also from a accademical point of view beacuase I needed to adapt to a different teaching method and I could lear how to manage a project workin on my Master’s thesis.
After graduating, and doing a brief intnership in CAD Design, I joined AKKA Technologies and The AKKAdemy Programmme. It has been one month of bold learning programs, which took place in Geneva, to improve technical, and consulting skills, with on-the-job training focused on leadership, project management, and business skills. After the first month in Geneva, I have been sent first in Lyon (France) and then near Coventry (UK) to work as CAD/Product Manager consultant in Aston Martin. There I could work in a prestigious automotive company, and to improve my skills as CAD designer, and also as manager in quality of product owner and CAD manager of a small team.
In Aston Martin, I growth an interest in project managment. Meanwhile that the project with the client was ending, it opened an internal position in AKKA UK as Assistant Project Manager, so I decided to follow that interest applying for it. It has been a big decision as I knew that I would move away from a technical position, however at the same time I was not leaving entirerly the engineering world, and since I have always been a curious person, I know that the new role could give me the chance to see more projects in different fields, with different topics, and different clients, all at the same time.
It has been tough at the beginning to learn new proceedures and ways of working, but thanks to my hard work, my fast learning pace, and most of all to my constant commitment in trying to do always a good job, I have been able in six months to get a promotion as Project Manager.
At the moment, I manage more than 30 people, and a budget of more than £1 million, spread across different projects in Aerospace and Railway sectors.
It is just the start of my career, every day I work hard to improve my skills, learn from my errors, and bring value to my company and my colleagues.

HOBBIES
As you could understand already, I love travelling both for work and for pleasure. I have been travelling aross Europe since I was thirteen years old first with my family, and as soon as I could I started to do it alone. In 2020, I was planning to extend my travels outside Europe, but COVID arrived and my desire needs to wait a little bit more.
My other big passion is photography, which goes hand in hand with travelling, and the fact that I have a bad memory. I like to capture the best moments with my Canon EOS 100d and my analogic Olympus OM-10. You can find my best photos here.
I enojoy doing all kind of sports. I go to the gym every day (even though I am far to be a bodybuilder) and I really like to go hiking when I can, especially if it is done in the mountains. The last one on the list in which I would like to improve is Golf, I would never think that it was so difficult to hit the ball.
Last but not least is my passing for cooking. I consider myself a good chef and my guests never complaint about the food that I served them, rather I received always outstanding feedback. My best plates are the pizza Neapolitan style and any kind risotto. Maybe I should add a page with my best creations!
